New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum scored a breathtaking unbeaten 158 of just 64 balls playing for for Birmingham Bears against Derbyshire on Friday. By doing this he equalled his own T20 high score of 158, which he scored for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the inaugural game of the very first edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008. McCullum hit 11 sixes and 13 fours in his unbeaten innings of 158.

His century came off just 42 balls. He scored the runs with an impressive strike rate of 246.87. It is the second highest T20 score ever, behind West Indian batsman Chris Gayle’s 175 in the Indian Premier League in 2013. McCullum, who recently signed a one-year extension to his contract with the national side despite fears over a persistent back problem, broke the previous mark of 153 set by Luke Wright for Sussex in 2014. Thanks to his efforts, Birmingham Bears finished with a huge score of 242 for Two in their allotted 20 overs.
