South Africa’s  Hashim Amla scored his third century against Australia this year. He smashed seven boundaries and one six at the Gabba on day three morning but Australia responded by finally snaring his wicket.

Amla has overtaken Clarke as the leading run-scorer in 2012 now.

Amla was dismissed LBW by Peter Siddle for  104.

Amla and Jacques Kallis became South Africa's greatest scoring partnership as the Proteas dominated Australia's bowlers to seize control.

Amla and Kallis rammed home the advantage with an unbeaten century stand as the world's best team blunted the Australian attack to have the South Africans in command after winning the toss.
