‘I think our approach is what we’re known for, the way in which we play’: Ben Stokes

On the Day 4 of second Test, the English hitters wanted to score quickly and put pressure on the Indian squad throughout day four, but the Indian spinners were too good for them.

England captain Ben Stokes was pleased with his team's adherence to the Bazball mantra as the visitors attempted an impossible chase in Vizag against India.

On day four of the second Test, England needed 322 runs to win, and the batsmen responded with a solid start, with Zak Crawley hitting 73. The English hitters wanted to score quickly and put pressure on the Indian squad throughout day four, but the Indian spinners were too good for them.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Stokes mentioned he was happy with the way they went about the chase, even if it may not work all the time.

“I think our approach is what we’re known for, the way in which we play,” said Stokes.

“Regardless of the situation, we want to stay very true to ourselves. I was happy with the way we went about that chase. That’s exactly how we play cricket. It won’t always work but a loss is a loss; you don’t get any points losing by five and you don’t get less for losing by 100.”
