Jackson Bird and Australian coach Mickey Arthur speak to the media ahead of the Boxing Day Test, where Bird is set to make his Test debut for Australia.

Bird will the 431st player to represent Australia in Tests when he makes his debut against Sri Lanka in the boxing day Test. Arthur confirmed the move and said that Bird has been brought in to replace Mitchell Starc who will be rested for the second Test.

Arthur spoke of the pleasant conversation he had with Bird on Sunday, informing him of the Test call up and even that he would open the bowling for Australia.

Bird, who has been doing well in First Class cricket for the last six to eight months has a good record at the MCG and will be raring to go in his first appearance for his country.
