Chairman of selectors Krishnamachari Srikkanth spoke to the media after announcing the squads for India's Test series against New Zealand and the squad for ICC World T20.
Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla and Lakshmipathy Balaji were included in the squad for the World Cup.
"Yuvraj has been declared fit, so he makes a comeback. And all of us know, if he gets going, he can singlehandedly win matches," chairman of selectors Krishnamachari Srikkanth told reporters after the meeting.
"In 2011 World Cup too, he was man of the series. We hope he continues in the same vein. And he has fought his way back. We really appreciate the kind of efforts put in by Yuvraj. He will be a great factor from Indian cricket's point of view.
"It is very good to see Yuvraj back with the Indian team starting with the World Cup T20. I am sure with this kind of combination that we have selected, we will definitely have a great chance of winning the T20 World Cup," he added.
"We had a long discussion. What we have taken into account is the immediate, that is the New Zealand series and we thought the team we selected was the best. We want to get back into the winning ways,"Srikkanth told reporters.
Cheteshwar Pujara and Suresh Raina were included in the Test squad while VVS Laxman managed to retain his place.
