Many dignitaries were present at the event, alongwith former India captain Anil Kumble, who said, "Chinnaswamy was a stalwart. This stadium itself is a result of his dedication to cricket. It has produced a number of players.”

“He was solely responsible for cricket flourishing in the state. The years he served in KSCA and BCCI give a clear idea of the man and his dedication to cricket,” he was quoted as saying by DNA.
