In a match featuring Otago Volts and Wellington Firebirds at Seddon Park, Hamilton, Otago batsman Michael Bracewell launched former New Zealand off-spinner Jeetan Patel over midwicket. A spectator seated on the grass banks ran forward to position himself under the ball but lost his balance, fell over and slid forward with momentum on the greasy grass. Yet not losing his composure, Andrew McCulloch  took a one-handed blinder behind his body. One could hear Ian Smith’s cries of shock and joy from the commentary box as the Mcculloch won 5000 dollars for his spectacular effort. His effort would have made even Jonty Rhodes proud.
