Richie Benaud, legendary cricket commentator on Monday revealed that he is undergoing radiation therapy to cure the skin cancer he is suffering from. During a program organised by Network Nine on the coverage of the upcoming Australian cricketing summer, he made an official public announcement regarding his illness.

Benaud attended the program with broadcast team that included former cricketers like Bill Lawry, Ian Chappell, Mark Nicholas, Brett Lee and Shane Warne at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Benaud, former captain of Australia has worked as a commentator since retiring from Test cricket in 1964. He has suffered chest and shoulder injuries during a car crash in Sydney late last year.
