It looks like that pressure is not only on BCCI president N Srinivasan but also on the Union Sports Minister Jitendra Singh. The sports ministry rejected the reports that it was in favour of legalising betting to curb corruption in sports. The ministry has also asked the president Srinivasan to step down on moral ground.

Srinivasan once again declined stepping down as BCCI chief, despite IPL Commissioner Rajeev Shukla and BCCI Vice President Arun Jaitely asking him to 'step aside' till the cricket governing body's probe on Gurunath Meiyappan's role in Chennai Super Kings is complete, according to agency reports.
