The ‘Champion’ song has been doing rounds on Social Media. Doesn’t matter if you are a Caribbean or not, you’ll mutter it without even realise it. Indeed, it’s a catchy song. With lyrics easy to remember, it has tune that will compel to shake a leg, thanks to DJ Bravo and West Indies for popularising the best song a cricketing world would dance to. It was the man of the finals, Marlon Samuels, who added fire to the celebration. Along with the West Indian team, Jamaica’s Usain Bolt—popularly known as Lightening Bolt—joined the party by performing the ‘Champion’ dance. Bolt however, called Gayle a loser in the video he posted. He says the words – “Gayle is a loser” while dancing to the beats.

It was a historic moment for West Indies. They won U-19 World Cup 2016, ICC Women’s World T20 2016 and ICC Men’s World T20 2016. It was evident why Bolt was so ecstatic and euphoric in the video. Only three captains had won a World Cup twice: Clive Lyod in 1975 and 1979, Ricky Ponting in 2003 and 2007, MS Dhoni in World T20 2007 and 2011. The jovial West Indian captain Darren Sammy became the fourth player to achieve this feat.

What made the final even more special and spectacular was the West Indian men and women dancing together to the ‘Champion’ dance. Tears rolled down. It was not only a happy moment for the Caribbean fans, but also an emotional moment for fans across the globe. It will be a moment to cherish; a moment we’ll like to go down memory lane every time we feel low.
