After managing to avoid each other for five editions, India and Pakistan finally met in World Cup cricket at Sydney Cricket Ground in 1992. Mohammad Azharuddin batted first, and India were reduced to 148 five. A blistering 60-run partnership between Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev then took India to 216 for seven in 49 overs.
