Chairman of selectors Kris Srikkanth has expressed shock over VVS Laxman’s retirement decision from international cricket on Saturday.

Former Indian captain said he was expecting the Hyderabadi batsman to play the upcoming Test series.

Srikkanth said, “It is a quite shocking retirement. He has made his decision. This is his personal decision and we should respect his personal decision.

”We were hoping that he would play in New Zealand series. He is going with inner voice we will have to respect his voice.”

Srikkanth paid rich tributes to Laxman and Rahul Dravid who announced retirement in March earlier this year.
