England batsman Joe Root puts in the hard yards in the nets ahead of England’s first Test against the West Indies in Antigua. England take on West Indies in a three-match Test series, starting April 13 at Antigua, followed by the second Test at Grenanda on April 21 and the third Test at Barbados on May 1.

The West Indian pitches have had a history of being balanced. While it does not offer much turn for spinners, which could be exploited by the batsmen to get some runs in their way, it can offer some assistance to pacers, especially with the movement, especially on tracks such as Kingston [Sabina Park] and Port-of-Spain [Queen’s Park Oval].
