The Indian cricket team in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 was rocked by another controversy when Virat Kohli, already in news for abusing a journalist during a training session in Perth, was involved in a heated discussion with the management over latest release of his girlfriend Anushka Sharma’s movie NH 10. Kohli, aggressive on the field and often abusive off it, was involved in a heated discussion with the Indian cricket management. Kohli was reportedly seen storming out of the team’s meeting room, once again hurling abuses (but not to anyone in specific) late on Thursday evening, after the team meeting ended on the eve of their ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 clash against the West Indies.

According to sources close to the team, Kohli, embarrassed following his public outburst against the journalist to whom he is yet to apologise to, is not in the right frame of mind ever since that incidence and the showdown with the team management has irked him even more. The sources inform that Kohli wanted to take the members of the touring cricket party out for a special screening of the film NH 10, which the management did not approve because the film is said to be full of violence and gore, and some senior members of the support staff, including head coach Duncan Fletcher, were not in favour of it. They thought the players have had a good run so far in the tournament and should not be indulging in anything which affects their mindset negatively.

Interestingly, the Indian support staff was a divided house over this issue. While the senior members did not want players to watch it, the others, including team director Ravi Shastri, had no objections on this. Shastri is known to be aggressive and he felt that there was no harm in the ‘guys watching the bloodshed as long as they can convert the message of the film into on-field performances.’ READ: Virat Kohli advised by VVS Laxman, Sunil Gavaskar to apologise to Indian journalist

Kohli lost his temper as the management failed to arrive at a conclusion over the request. The Indian vice-captain, who has played a key role in the team’s success so far in the tournament, was not happy with it and the sources inform that he ended up having a heated argument with the team manager Dr RN Baba, who too has received criticism from the media of late. Kohli left the meeting room following the outburst. Baba was apparently trying to derive a conclusion from the discussions between the camps — visibly led by Fletcher and Shastri.

The matter ended when the cricketer and the team management were slowly trudging back to their hotel and someone from the Indian contingent of the journalists travelling with the team informing that the release of the film has been postponed to March 13, and there was no point fighting over it.
