Ross Taylor, the darling of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), was taken by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 4 auction, where the Royals outbid RCB for $1 million. It was heart-breaking; it was as if RCB had lost its soul. We fans can’t imagine RCB without Taylor.
People who have witnessed RCB home matches in Bangalore know what I am talking about. When Taylor comes out to bat, fans start chanting his name.
Even Tendulkar won’t get that kind of response from crowd. The decibel levels in the ground must be heard to be believed. That’s the sway Taylor had among his RCB fans in Bangalore.
Taylor hails from New Zealand, but he is like any other Bangalorean. Bangalore is his second home. RCB fans are in distraught at having lost him.
Dear Shilpa Shetty, please give back Ross Taylor to RCB! Quote your price… we fans RCB fans raise it, but we MUST have Taylor back again in RCB. We RCB fans can’t bear to be without our beloved player for the next three years. If some transfer window is open, then we can exchange somebody from our team to Rajasthan Royals – just the way we swapped Zaheer Khan for Robin Uthappa two years back with Mumbai Indians.
For RCB fans, the entertainment quotient is dead with. The same is the case with Dale Steyn, Rahul Dravid and Robin Uthappa not being the part of the team anymore. These players won matches for the team singlehandedly. Dravid’s experience and expertise as a batsman can’t be replaced by anyone.
RCB will miss these players big time. Only time can tell how the new team will.
