The 38th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Delhi Daredevils (DD). While DD have lost all hope of making it to the play-offs, RCB will have to win every single match from here on to give themselves an outside chance of entering the playoffs this season.
While Kevin Pietersen’s regained touch will be a morale booster for Delhi, they will be eyeing to win as many games as possible to give themselves a respectable position in the table at the end of the season. Virat Kohli’s men, on the other hand, have been disappointing this season. Their star-studded team has failed to light up IPL 7. Kohli’s form has been a big disappointment, but even the other star batsmen have shone in spurts only.
Toss: Bangalore are most likely to win the toss and bat first. In the last match, even after setting a huge target, their bowlers couldn’t defend the same against some mind-blowing power hitting by James Faulkner and Steve Smith of Rajasthan Royals.
Key Players: The top-order of Bangalore in the form of Parthiv Patel, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers is expected to fire in the crucial encounter. Kohli would love to get some runs under his belt, while Parthiv would be desperate to convert one of his starts into a big score.
If predictions are to be believed, then it could be the battle of top-orders, as Dinesh Karthik, Quinton de Kock and Murali Vijay are also expected to light up matters for Delhi in the first half of their innings.
Who Will Win: Batting first, RCB are likely to score something in the range of 165-185, and they are also expected to win the match by a rough margin of about 20 runs. Now that means we could be in for a close encounter.
