Jacques Henry Kallis, the greatest all-rounder of the modern game bid adieu to Test cricket after the second Test against India at Durban. It ended where it all started for him, back in 1995 against England. Kallis was struggling for form throughout 2013. Before taking the field in his 166th and final Test of his career, he was averaging a meagre 17.63 in seven Tests. It was a challenge for him to finish on a high and make his swansong a memorable one.
Kallis had lot of milestones and records to aim for during his last Test. Being the complete cricketer, one can find his name in many categories. Let us have a look at some of the records Kallis broke during the Durban Test:
— On Day Two of the second Test, i.e. December 27, 2013, off the fifth ball of 108th over, Kallis caught Ravindra Jadeja off the bowling of JP Duminy to record his 200th Catch. He became only the second player to take 200 or more catches as a non-wicketkeeper. Rahul Dravid was the first man to do so and incidentally took his 200th catch at the same venue exactly three years ago i.e. December 27, 2010.
— The catch was also his 336th in international cricket. It put him at par with Dravid as have the third most number of catches as non-wicketkeepers in international cricket.
