David Warner’s (70*, batting through 20 overs) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (5 for 19) dazzled for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as they withstood Manan Vohra’s plundering 95 to pip Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 5 runs in an Indian Premier League (IPL) contest here on Monday. SRH posted a decent total of 159. In reply, opener Vohra single-handedly took KXIP on the brink of victory but his 50-ball knock, featuring 9 fours and 5 sixes, but could prevent the visitors from being bowled out for 154 in 19.4 overs. Besides these, Afghanistan all rounder Mohammad Nabi made his IPL debut in this match and grabbed the crucial wicket of Eoin Morgan. The win was the 7th for SRH against KXIP; with this victory, we present some interesting statistical highlights from the match. 7th win for SRH against KXIP, the most against any team by them in IPL. SRH’s second-most wins against a team is 5 against Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

42 runs conceded by Rashid Khan in this match, the most by an overseas spinner for SRH in IPL. Overall, Rashid stands at joint-6th position in the list of most runs conceded by a SRH spinner.

5 for 19 are now the best bowling figures for Bhuvneshwar in T20s. This is his 1st five-wicket haul in limited-overs cricket. His figures were also the 2nd-best by an Indian pacer in IPL and 6th overall.

1st instance of two players from Associate nations playing for the same team in an IPL match. Nabi made his IPL debut in this match. Nabi and his Afghanistan teammate Rashid became the 1st duo of Associate players playing for the same team in a match in IPL.

100 wickets for Bhuvneshwar in IPL. He became 6th Indian to reach this landmark in the tournament after Amit Mishra (129), Piyush Chawla (122), Harbhajan Singh (122), Ashish Nehra (103) and Vinay Kumar (101).

5th instance of a KXIP batsman scoring 90 or more in an innings and ends up losing the match. His  95 is also the 3rd-highest score by a KXIP batsman on a losing cause after Wriddhiman Saha (115* vs KKR in 2014) and Hashim Amla (96 vs SRH in 2016).

95 runs scored by Vohra, the joint 2nd-highest score in a valiant chase in IPL. Shaun Marsh had also scored 95, against DD in a losing cause in 2011. The record is 100 by Yusuf Pathan, for Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2010. This was also Vohra’s highest score in T20s.

2nd instance of Warner batting through 20 overs in an IPL match. The first instance came in 2011, while playing for DD against KKR, in which he scored unbeaten 107.
