Pakistan is not among those teams that shares fierce rivalry against Australia, but are surely the best Asian team in terms of performing overseas. Since their admission in international cricket, Pakistan have been reputed for their aggressive brand of cricket, with a blend of talented bunch of cricketers. Be it batting or bowling, Pakistan have maintained the habit of producing world-class players over the years. Fielding is the only department that they have been greatly criticised for. On the other hand, Australia are one of the oldest Test teams, which has been dominating the game since the early days.

Full Cricket Scorecard: Pakistan vs Australia, Day-night Test at Brisbane

It was in 1964 when Pakistan first arrived in Australia to play a one-off Test. Despite the match ended in a draw, it was highly dominated by the great Hanif Mohammad, who scored 104 and 93.

For any new Test team on its first tour of Australia, managing a draw is itself a huge achievement. They, undoubtedly, are quick learners of the game, and their players have the knack of adapting to the conditions quickly. After that one-off Test, Pakistan faced a whitewash in a three-Test series in 1972-73. But in the same decade, they started making amends, which continued till 1995-96.

After the 1995-96 series, Pakistan carried an atrocious record in Australia by getting whitewashed three consecutive times. The period of 1996 to 2010 has been the toughest phase for Pakistan team.

Current skipper Misbah-ul-Haq, on the other hand, ensured the side s recovery since the past half a decade. Under Misbah, Pakistan have managed to become a team, not just the bunch of extremely talented cricketers but a swaggering team.

Well, there is much to talk about this upcoming series, but meanwhile, take a look at the following infographic that is filled with the rich history between these teams in Tests:

However, after looking at the above infographic, one will surely think that Pakistan have been miserable against Australia in their own den. They are yet to register a series win but not to forget that no Asian team has ever won a Test series in Australia. Pakistan also have been unable to win a Test in Australia in last 21 years. But with Misbah as their captain, the team may as well rewrite history.

Australia, who have been abysmal of late, must be eyeing to rebuild their fortunes.

Both the teams have some very classy, gritty and gutsy players. Surely, the contest will be interesting and one should not expect a one-sided series this time because this Pakistan team are probably the best team currently to tour Australia in this century.
