W Riaz to Renshaw, OUT! TERRIFIC DELIVERY! Pitched up and outside off, Renshaw tries to get in line of the delivery to defend it but the ball swung away a bit late after pitching which got the outside edge. The ball then went straight into the hands of the keeper. He was very sure of his stumps before this delivery. The very composed knock of Renshaw comes to an end.
Amir to Warner, OUT! AMIR DRAWS FIRST BLOOD! Bowls a length delivery on the stumps, Warner shuffles across his stumps inviting the danger of being rapped in front and he falls prey to it as he misses the straightish delivery. There is a huge appeal from the Pakistanis in unison and the umpire obliges and rules it out. Warner is disappointed as he walks back from near his partner. Consults with Renshaw but doesn't take the review, keeps on walking back to the pavilion. Big breakthrough for the visitors. The Hawk Eye shows that the ball would have just clipped the leg stump and it would have been Umpire's call if Warner had taken the review.
Y Shah to Khawaja, OUT! YASIR DECEIVES KHAWAJA WITH A GOOD ONE! Bowls it slow through the air inviting Khawaja into an ambitious shot. He obliges, dances down the track and looks to place it in the gap through mid-wicket. He only ends up clipping it uppishly to Misbah who deosn't need to move an inch and grabs a comfortable catch. Hurls the ball in air and the Pakistanis are elated. He was in good form and the visitors would be happy to see the back of him.
W Riaz to Smith, OUT! Finally Pakistan hold on to a Smith's catch! Length delivery wide outside off, angling away, Smith looks to drive it away from his body but gets an outside edge and flies behind. Sarfraz moves a touch to his right and grabs it cleanly. The luck has run out for Smith and has to walk back! That's the end of a 172-run partnership.
W Riaz to Handscomb, OUT! Back-to-back wickets! The centurion departs! Riaz from around the wicket, pitches it on a length outside off. Handscomb looks to play it with his feet stuck firmly on the ground and pays the price as the ball catches the inside edge and goes on to shatter the woodwork. A good innings from Handscomb comes to an end! Superb spell from Riaz and Amir continue as Pakistan come out strongly after the break.
Riaz to Maddinson, OUT! 3-fer for Riaz! Back of a length delivery outside off, swinging away, Maddinson pokes at it. The ball catches the outside edge of his bat and flies towards Sarfraz, who takes it cleanly. Another one of the morning for Riaz. He is looking sharp after that chat with Waqar before the day's play. Nic Maddinson is yet to make his mark in the International arena. He has now begun his Test career with the scores of 0,0 and 1!
M Amir to M Wade, OUT! AMIR STRIKES! He gets rewarded for bowling consistently on a channel outside off. This time it's a bit shorter and wide outside off, inviting Wade for an ambitious shot. Wade obliges and has a loose slash at it. Ends up getting a fat outside edge that flies towards Azhar Ali at third slip. He hops and grabs a good catch. Good fightback by the Pakistanis!
M Amir to Starc, OUT! Great bowling from Amir! Bowls it on a length and outside off, Starc slashes at it but gets a thick outside edge that travels at a fast pace towards Asad Shafiq at first slip. He rises to perfection and takes a sharp reflex catch. Great seam bowling from Amir and Riaz this afternoon and they have dented the middle and lower middle order.
M Amir to J Hazlewood, OUT! Hazlewood's gone! Amir carrying his rhythm from the first session! Bowling a consistent line outside off has rewarded him. Length delivery outside off, Hazlewood goes hard at it. Gets a thick outside edge and once again Shafiq at first slip takes a good high catch towards his left.
Y Shah to Lyon, OUT! A break was what Pakistan needed to pick up the final wicket and bowl out Australia! Yasir Shah loops it up nicely on leg, Lyon gets to the pitch of the ball and clips it uppishly straight to Shafiq at short mid-wicket. AUSTRALIA ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 429!

J Bird to Aslam, OUT! Bird is joining the party now! Finally, Aslam is put out of his misery! Angling down leg, Aslam gets across and looks to glance it. Gets a faint edge in the process and Wade behind the stumps does no mistake whatsoever. Now all the pacers have picked up a couple of wickets apiece. Aussie pacers have struck gold with this pink ball under the lights. Now the tail remains!
M Starc to Ali, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Swinging in a bit towards the timber from a good length, Azhar tries to defend it but the ball gets a thick outside edge which flies towards the third slip where Usman Khawaja takes a diving catch towards his left. Starc strikes early and Ali has to make the long walk back.
J Hazlewood to B Azam, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! On a length outside off, Babar goes to drive it through the cover region but he finds an outside edge which goes straight to Smith who is standing at second slip. Easy catch for Smith. Babar has given it away after a good start.
J Hazlewood to Khan, OUT! TWO IN TWO FOR JOSH! Younis goes for a golden duck. Full ball outside off and Younis Khan goes forward to defend it. The ball just moves away a touch and takes the outside edge straight to Wade. Big wicket for the Aussies as he can score some really big scores if he gets going. This wicket lands up Hazlewood with a chance of a Hat-Trick.
J Bird to Misbah, OUT! THE MAINSTAY HAS TO DEPART! Full and wide outside off, Misbah goes fetching for it and falls in the trap. The skipper goes to push it and the ball finds the outside edge which falls straight in the hands of Renshaw who bends low to catch it comfortably at first slip. Pakistan are in a bad shape now as they see their skipper go back to the pavilion.
M Starc to A Shafiq, OUT! Shafiq departs! Once again, immediately after the drinks break we see a wicket fall. Lapse in concentration maybe! Touch fullish around off, shapes away after pitching, Shafiq looks to defend it off the front foot but gets an outside edge. The ball flies low to third slip, where Khawaja once again takes a good low catch. Pakistan are falling apart as the Aussie pacers are striking gold here. However, Aslam is still out there on the other end. What will be going on in his mind, one must wonder!
Hazlewood to Riaz, OUT! Hazlewood completes his 3-fer! Riaz has to depart! On a length around off and angling in, Riaz looks to play it on the leg side but goes off the top of the bat in the air and in the hands of Hazlewood. He just lofts the ball in the air in delight! Pakistan are 7 down for 66!
M Starc to Y Shah, OUT! Now, Starc completes his 3-fer! Back of a length outside off, Shah guides it straight into the hands of Khawaja at third slip. He is not going to let anything slip through his hands today, takes the third catch of the innings. It looked like a catch practice session. Yasir Shah has to walk back. Pakistan with 2 wickets in hand!
J Bird to Amir, OUT! Caught behind! The decision is overturned. Wow. That is not a wicket for the bowler. But for the keeper. Take a bow, Wade. Your eyes and ears are extremely sharp. What a review. On a good length around leg and middle, Amir looks to defend but the ball comes in, cuts him into half. Wade collects and straightaway throws it in the air in celebration. Bird appeals but the umpire shakes his head. The bowler is also not sure about the review and Smith asks his keeper who convinces him to go for it. Hot Spot detects a tiny mark just below the glove and the third umpire is happy with that. Snickometer also shows a deflection. Amir is disappointed but he has got to go. The 54-run stand is broken. Good fight.
J Bird to S Ahmed, OUT! Rahat Ali is gone. Landed outside off, fuller in length, Sarfraz drives it towards mid off and sets off for a single. Rahat responds but then Sarfraz sees that David Warner is onto the ball in a flash to his left. Sends Rahat back. Ali takes a while to turn and does not dive but just slides his bat in. The ball hits the stumps and ricochets towards fine leg and now the batsmen take the overthrow. Australia appeal for the run out and it is referred upstairs. From one angle, it seems that when the ball hits the stumps, Rahat's bat is in the air but comes down when the bails are dislodged. However, from another angle, it looks like the bails are off when the bat is in the air. AUSTRALIA GET A LEAD OF 287.

M Amir to Warner, OUT! Caught! Warner has thrown it away. In fact, he never intended to play a longish innings, I suppose. He was just trying to get quick runs and has perished in the process, pretty quickly. A short ball around off, Warner attempts an ungainly pull but miscues it high in the air, straight up towards mid on. Wahab Riaz jogs to his right and takes a dolly. Amir claps Warner off the field.
R Ali to M Renshaw, OUT! Edged and taken. Rahat gets a wicket as well. This is beautiful bowling. Full and around off, comes in with the angle, squares Renshaw up as he looks to defend and then moves it away. Takes the outside edge and goes to second slip where Younis Khan takes a dolly. Early trouble for Australia.
R Ali to Khawaja, OUT! That is a fantastic catch! A short ball around off, Khawaja goes for the ball but ends up dragging it. He mistimes his shot and Misbah runs to his left and stretches to take a very decent catch. Khawaja misses out on a century.
Y Shah to Smith, OUT! The captain departs. So no twin centuries for him. Flighted around off, Smith comes down the track and looks to whip it over mid on but mistimes the ball. It goes straight up in the air and Smith knows it straightaway. Just stands there, ready to go back, but then realizes that he should cross. Rahat Ali takes a simple catch running back a bit at mid on. End of a 111-run stand. AUSTRALIA ARE EFFECTIVELY 422/3.
W Riaz to Maddinson, OUT! Caught! Boundary one ball, gone next ball. A short ball outside off, Maddinson looks to pull but the ball climbs onto him and miscues it to long leg where Babar Azam takes it comfortably. Maddinson is asked to wait as the umpires want to check for the no ball but Wahab is fine. Maddinson is having a forgetful start to his Test career.

M Starc to S Aslam, OUT! One down, 9 to go. The change of ends works for Starc. He bowls this on a length, outside off, Aslam looks to drive at it and gets a healthy outside edge. The ball flies to Matthew Renshaw at first slip who keeps his eyes on it and takes it comfortably, near his face, bending down a touch. Mark Nicholas and Michael Clarke on air opine that the 'Gabba is a good place for slip catching. The ball seems to hang in the air for that fraction of a second longer, but then you also need good slip catching skills. It is 3 out of 3 as of now for Renshaw in the slips in terms of catching.
M Starc to Ali, OUT! GOT HIM! The short ball plan has worked. Shortish ball down the leg side, Azhar looks to work it but is unable to predict the line of the ball and it takes off from his gloves and goes back to the keeper. Wade behind the stumps takes a regulation catch and flings it into the air in triumph. Australia have finally got their breakthrough and Starc is the man to deliver it.
N Lyon to B Azam, OUT! Edged and taken! Full and wide outside off, Azam draws to push but the ball straightens a touch and takes the outside edge. Smith takes it nicely at first slip. The change of ball has done the trick. The break has got a wicket for the Australians. End of a sluggish stand.
N Lyon to Khan, OUT! Poor shot and Younis walks! Lyon pitches it on the rough once more and Younis Khan cannot resist going for the reverse sweep. He is unable to judge it correctly though and the ball rides up his arm and goes over the keeper's head. Steven Smith at first slip goes back and takes the catch. That was some great bowling and Lyon gets his man!
Bird to Misbah, OUT! Edged and gone! Bird gets the big fish! Landed outside off, shapes away a touch after landing, Misbah perhaps thinking about the short leg fielder tries to push with soft hands but gets a faint edge to the keeper behind. Wade makes no mistake and Bird has removed the Pakistani skipper. The hosts slip further.
M Starc to A Shafiq, OUT! THAT'S A RIPPER! Surely that's the death blow for Pakistan. Starc produces an real gem to dislodge Shafiq. Dug in short around off, 143 kph, climbs awkwardly on Asad who fends meekly at it. The ball flies off the top half of the blade and balloons towards gully. Warner takes the catch with ease and the Australians are absolutely pumped up. That's the wicket they needed and what a time to get it. An absolute masterclass from Shafiq ends and he leaves to a standing ovation from the crowd. Well played son! AUSTRALIA NEED JUST 1 WICKET.
Starc to S Ahmed, OUT! Bowled 'em! A cracker of a delivery, that was! Length ball on middle and off, Sarfraz takes a step forward and looks to push it. He misjudges the delivery though as the ball swings in just a bit and squeezes between the gap between bat and pad. It goes on to crash into the stumps and splits them. Starc is a happy man but Smith looks even happier.
J Bird to Amir, OUT! Bird strikes! Amir has to wait for his maiden Test fifty. It was a pretty good knock nonetheless. Length ball around off, Amir tries to defend but gets an outside edge to the keeper behind. Wade takes an easy catch and Bird gets his second scalp. So that's the breakthrough Australia wanted.
J Bird to Riaz, OUT! There's the breakthrough! Australia will be really relieved! Against the run of play a wicket has fallen here. Wahab Riaz is the man to go and Jackson Bird has struck. It's a length ball outside off Riaz pokes at it but gets an outside edge. The ball goes to the left of Smith at second slip who takes a good catch this time. After dropping two catches earlier he'll be relieved. So that ends an entertaining stand between Riaz and Shafiq. Good support by Riaz.
M Starc to Shah, OUT! SMITH SEALS IT! Brilliant stuff from the Aussie captain. It was a very full ball on off, Yasir just about kept it out towards second slip on the bounce but in the process had gone out of his crease. Smith collects the ball and is alert enough to fire a direct hit at the keeper's end. No doubt at that as Yasir was well short. What an anti-climax but it's been one heck of a contest for sure! AUSTRALIA WIN BY 39 RUNS.
