AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli stole the show on Tuesday as they took Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to the cleaners as they propelled Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to a commanding total. Chris Gayle was dismissed early by Bhuvneshwar Kumar early. Kohli and de Villiers did not look in any sort of trouble throughout their innings and they made life miserable for the SRH bowlers. Mustafizur Rahman had a good game with the ball and barring him none of the bowlers stepped up to the plate in this match. Let’s have a look at some of the highlights from this match. Live cricket scorecard: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, IPL 2016 at Bangalore
AB de Villier’s innovative shot: De Villiers played an excellent shot in the fifth over of Bhuvneshwar. He played a shot over the cover fence off the back foot . It looked like a cut off the back foot played well in front of square. What was amazing was that it went all the way for a huge six. The very next delivery was a full one, which de Villiers drove beautifully down the ground — A textbook cover drive.
Virat Kohli-AB de Villiers partnership: RCB lost Gayle early and that brought de Villiers to the crease to join Kohli. The partnership of 157 off just 87 deliveries ensured that RCB got a huge score on the board. Both Kohli and de Villiers did not look in any sort of trouble throughout their innings. Kohli made a 51-ball 75 and de Villiers was out for 82 off 42, falling 18 short of well deserved century. Ashish Nehra Walks off: Nehra walked off in the 11th over after bowling just one ball in the over. He seemed to have pulled a hamstring and he immediately walked off the field with Ashish Reddy bowling the remaining balls in the over.
Mustafizur Rahman’s impressive debut: Mustafizur was easily SRH on his debut. He picked up the wickets of de Villiers and Watson off consecutive deliveries, which cut down RCB’s momentum to a certain extent. RCB would have perhaps scored 15-20 runs more had they been at the crease. Mustafizur however finished with figures of 2 for 26 in his four overs.
Sarfaraz Khan’s incredible hitting: Sarfaraz scored 35 off just 10 with a strike rate of 350 at a time when de Villiers and Watson were dismissed off consecutive deliveries. He scored five boundaries and two sixes in his innings, which got RCB to a big total.
