In September 2013, Rajasthan Royals’ cricketers Shanthakumaran Sreesanth and Ankit Chavan were banned for life by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on allegations of spot-fixing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The two cricketers and their Rajasthan Royals teammate Ajit Chandila were arrested on those allegations during the IPL 2013.

Sreesanth found himself in the eye of the controversy and his fears came true when he was banned for life by the BCCI. Amul’s ad read, “Sree shan’t play again?”
