Delhi Daredevils (DD) recorded their second win in the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) when they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by five runs in Match 13 at Visakhapatnam. Amit Banerjee takes a look at some of the memorable moments from the match.

Mayank Agarwal fails to repeat past heroics: Mayank’s 48-ball 68 was pivotal in securing five-wicket victory for Delhi Daredevils against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), their maiden win in IPL 2015. The young opening batsman failed to charm with the bat in this match as he fell for a score of one in his third delivery, getting caught by Shikhar Dhawan off Bhuvneshwar Kumar. DD received setback with just 15 runs on board. Read: Delhi Daredevils beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 4 runs in exciting clash in IPL 2015

Shreyas Iyer leads the fightback: Iyer was not particularly effective in the three IPL 2015 appearances so far, registering scores of 7, 40 and 6. A good knock was only crucial for Iyer in order to retain his place in the side as an opener. He responded brilliantly, smashing five sixes and three fours during his 40-ball innings of 60 to put DD in control. He added 78 for the second wicket with JP Duminy before being caught by opposition skipper David Warner off Praveen KumarDelhi Daredevils in IPL 2015 Auction: A talented team that lacks depth

Consecutive blows push Delhi on the backfoot: At 132 for 2 in the 16th over DD appeared poised for the blast in the last five overs. Duminy was batting on 54 from 40 balls, and hopes of crossing the 200-run mark were very much alive at this stage. Dale Steyn, playing his first match in the IPL 2015, had failed to get a wicket to his name so far in the innings, and got ready to bowl his last ball of the innings. Duminy attempted to play the full-pitched delivery that was aimed at his feet with a lap sweep towards fine-leg. He ended up playing the ball towards the stumps, making a mess out of them.

Yuvraj Singh, who was bagged by the franchise for whopping INR 16 crores, was the next to depart of the following delivery, the first ball of the 16th over. Attempting to smash Ashish Reddy over mid-wicket, he was caught by Warner in a brilliant leap that would have otherwise comfortably cleared the ropes. IPL 2015: CSK, KKR, RCB, KXIP, MI, RR, SRH, DD full team details in IPL 8

Warner, Dhawan guide SRH to steady start: Sunrisers had comfortably chased down the 167-run target set by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their second match with eight wickets to spare. They needed a similar effort here if they were to get their second win. The pair added 50 quick runs for the opening wicket including seven boundaries between them, as SRH were off a decent start.

Duminy’s twin double-strikes: Duminy had starred with the bat, and introduced himself into the attack with an aim to get a breakthrough. After bowling the second over of the match, he reintroduced himself; it proved to be a boon as Dhawan was bowled right through the gate off the first ball of the seventh before Warner was caught and bowled a couple of deliveries later, as the contest was thrown wide open. Duminy repeated the feat in 17th over when he got an in-form Ravi Bopara, who was batting on 41 off 29 balls, caught by Manoj Tiwary at long-off to inflict a major blow in the Sunrisers camp. A couple of deliveries later he got the dangerous Eoin Morgan, who missed the line of the delivery and got his off-stump uprooted. At 129 for 6 after 17 overs, DD were the clear favourites to win the contest.

Mayank Agarwal’s match-saving leap: Karn Sharma arrived at the crease when SRH needed 39 off 18 balls, with Imran Tahir getting ready to bowl the 18th over. Karn showed that he was no pushover with the bat, and smashed one of the leading spinners in the world for two consecutive sixes to bring the required equation considerably down. Ashish Reddy continued to hit in the following over, smashing a four and six off Angelo Mathews for SRH to score 10 off the last over.

Karn ran the first ball for a single, with a miscommunication resulting in a run-out of Reddy in the following delivery. Praveen arrived at the crease with Sharma taking a single off the following delivery. SRH needed seven from two balls at this stage.

Karn smashed Nathan Coulter-Nile’s fifth ball towards deep point, where Mayank leapt high in the air and threw the ball back inside the boundary to save four runs. It turned out to be a match-winning effort, as Karn was caught at long-off by Mathews off the final ball of the match to result in a four-run win for the tourists.
