After much contemplation, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has decided that England’s scheduled tour to Bangladesh in October will go as per the plans despite security concerns. There were clouds of uncertainty over the tour after a series of deadly attacks in Dhaka last month. But the ECB carried out a security review in the country and after due consultations with players and concerned officials, decided to give the tour a go ahead on Thursday.
England will now play two Tests and three ODIs in the country between October 7 and November 1, 2016. The matches will take place in Chittagong and Dhaka, where 20 hostages died when a cafe was attacked in July. There were also reports that the ECB had earlier left the decision on its players whether to tour Bangladesh or not. ALSO READ: Mashrafe Mortaza urges England players to tour Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi skipper Mashrafe Mortaza too had pleaded with the English players to consider touring his country, as terror attacks have been happening in Europe too, where recently Euro 2016 was organised despite heightened threat of more attacks.
With the news of England ready to tour Bangladesh spreading, the fans of Bangladesh cricket team have taken to social media to express their joy over the development. The Bangladeshi fans, the most passionate of fans across the world, have thanked the English team for the decision to tour their country. Here are some of the top tweets in this regard:
