Hardik Patel, the leader of the Patel stir for quota reservation, was earlier today detained five kms from the stadium in Rajkot where the third One-Day International (ODI) match between India and South Africa is currently underway. Patel has been demanding reservation for his community under OBC quota for the last two months and had threatened to disrupt the Rajkot ODI along with a huge number of followers. He even reportedly went on to say that he won’t allow the teams to enter the Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium. [Pick of the tweets: India vs South Africa, 3rd ODI at Rajkot]

The district administration had however taken ample measures to stop any unwanted incident from happening. The mobile internet services had been blocked on Saturday night to stop circulation of mass messages and the stadium was fortified on Sunday. Police personnel were deployed on all roads leading to the stadium and Patel was finally detained some five kms away from the stadium. [Live streaming: India vs South Africa 2015, 3rd ODI at Rajkot]
