HPCA wants Narendra Modi, Nawaz Sharif to attend India vs Pakistan ICC World T20 2016 clash

According to the recently released World Twenty20 (T20) fixture by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the high voltage India-Pakistan clash will be played at Dharamsala on March 19,2016. The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) wants Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif to be present when the arch-rivals take on each other at Dharamsala.

The HPCA vice-president Surinder Thakur while addressing a press conference was quoted in a report from IndianExpress saying, “We want Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to arrive at Dharamshala to watch the match.”

Thakur when asked about sending a formal invitation to Sharif he said, “We can’t do that. The BCCI has to do this and we have asked them to ensure that the two dignitaries come here. Anurag Thakur, BCCI secretary and HPCA president, must have already taken this initiative”. “The matches have offered opportunities for cricket diplomacy as a means to improve relations between the two countries.”

The matches will also benefit the tourism of Himachal Pradesh feels Thakur. As of now, all eyes will be set at Dharamsala for the most awaited match of the tournament.
