Kumar Sangakkara on Wednesday became the first batsman in One-Day International (ODI) history to score four hundreds on a trot. Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, who is considered to be the greatest ODI batsman and has most of the batting records to his name, congratulated the Sri Lankan on his feat. Sangakkara also became the first player to score four hundreds in a single World Cup, something even Tendulkar (highest run-getter in World Cup history) hasn’t managed. (ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: Full coverage)

Tendulkar resorted to Twitter to praise the Sri Lankan batsman who scored a hundred from 86 balls against Scotland, his fourth consecutive ODI century in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup.

Tendulkar applauded Sangakkara’s batting abilities and consistency. The 37-year-old smashed hundreds against Bangladesh, England, Australia and Scotland. Before Sangakkara, only six batsmen had scored surpassing the three centuries on a trot and they were Zaheer Abbas, Saeed Anwar, Herschelle Gibbs, AB de Villiers, Quinton de Kock and Ross Taylor.
