‘India don’t believe they can win overseas,’ says Matthew Hayden

With two days to go for the Boxing Day Test between India and Australia at Melbourne, former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden criticised India’s mental strength as he said that India’s weakness lies in their thought process.

Hayden, who played 103 Tests for Australia and scored over 8,600 runs, evokes his Boxing Day memories and analyses the upcoming third Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in an exclusive write-up for News.com.au.

He feels that India is searching for an excuse and have a false sense of what aggression means. He believes that the Indian bowling unit have the talent to get the opposition batsmen out but they lack experience and are inconsistent in bowling Test level spells.

Hayden also wrote that Indian cricketers are tremendously afraid of failures and that’s the reason Shikhar Dhawan didn’t come out to bat on the fourth day of the Brisbane Test.

But the big left-hander had some good words for the Indian batsmen – Virat Kohli and Murali Vijay, “Australia definitely have the edge when it comes to bowling but talent-wise the Indian batsmen are on par. Virat Kohli is world class — there’s an edge to his game – and Murali Vijay has gone to a new level.
