India to play tour match on Thursday

Cricket Australia confirmed on their official website on Tuesday that India will play against Cricket Australia XI at Glenelg Oval, the same venue where they played their first practice match last week, when Phil Hughes was struck in the lower back of his head by a bouncer in a Sheffield Shield match at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

The much-needed practice match will help India prepare for the first Test, which will now be played at Adelaide Oval starting December 9.

Hughes passed away on November 27, which led to the cancellation of India’s final tour match, scheduled earlier at Adelaide Oval last Friday. The tragedy has also forced to reschedule the entire Test series with Brisbane, originally scheduled to host the first Test will now host the second, starting December 17.

Change in tri-series venues

Cricket Australia confirmed through Twitter that the venues for the first two On-Day Internationals (ODIs) of the tri-series will be swapped with Australia playing England at SCG on January 16 next year, while the hosts will play India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on January 18.
