59 matches, 50 days and now we head to the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It is the clash of two major south Indian cities, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). RCB have an advantage as they are playing the game at their home ground in Bengaluru. In fact, both the sides clashed at the same venue in their opening game of the tournament. Then it was RCB all the way but SRH came back strong to top the points table for a considerable amount of time, finally finishing at No. 3, a few decimals below RCB. Also Read: Morne Morkel’s jealousy and other reactions from cricket fraternity ahead of IPL 2016 Final
Both the sides are being led by two feisty aggressive leaders, who have been the best batsmen for their respective sides and also the tournament. Virat Kohli has 919 runs in the tournament, while David Warner has 779 runs. Warner does not have the luxury of AB de Villiers or a Chris Gayle, so in that way we can say that RCB have been the best batting side in the contest. In contrast, Kohli may have the world’s best batters at his disposal, including himself but unlike SRH, his side’s bowling has been a weakness. However, things have changed off late and Yuzvendra Chahal‘s inspired show has strengthened the department. SRH will be sweating over Mustafizur Rahman‘s fitness. Trent Boult, who replaced him in the last game, looked rusty and that is bound to happen. His presence will make a huge difference as the sides clash eyeing their maiden IPL Trophy. Also Read: IPL 2016: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, road to the final
Back in 2009, RCB made their way to the final when another franchise from Hyderabad, the now defunct Deccan Chargers led by Adam Gilchrist won the contest. Another top-order Australian is now threatening RCB’s claim with his inspired Orange Army.
Will it be Kohli’s superstar-laden RCB or the Warner-led bunch of effective cricketers? We will know it soon. For the one last time this season, catch the live action here and stay tuned for the live updates and best tweets from the cyberspace here.
TOSS: SRH have won the toss and elected to bat first against RCB.
Yes @SunRisers … Congratulations !!! Happy for you @TomMoodyCricket @VVSLaxman281 and Murali too… Deserved winners !!!#IPL2016
