Kanpur man loses wife in IPL gambling

Now, this bizarre incident is bound to be compared to the infamous episode of Mahabharata where King Yudhistira lost his wife Draupadi after putting her at stake in a gambling game. A report from ANI states that Ravinder Singh’s fellow gamblers began harassing his wife Jasmeet Kaur and the latter had to approach police for help. She was heled by social activists. It was then when the matter came into light that Ravinder from Govindnagar area of Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh put his wife at stake in an Indian Premier League (IPL) betting and lost. Police said that Ravinder lost all money at share market and put up his wife as a stake in IPL betting before losing her. The couple married five years back and his wife is a boutique owner. Thing s turned sour since the first day of marriage when Ravinder asked his wife to hand over to him her jewellery and other valuables. Heavily into drinking and gambling, Ravinder either sold or lost due to his habit.
