Cricket is loved globally and the love knows no boundaries. The perfect example for the statement is Mohammad Bashir, a Chicago-based Pakistani who is hard not to spot in the stands with his bright green kurta and the Pakistan national flag, cheering for team.

Come ICC World Cup 2015, Bashir chose to switch loyalties temporarily to support the Indian captain MS Dhoni and pray for India to defend and retain the title!

Talking about his admiration for Dhoni since 2014 with Gulf News, he said, “At the 2014 World T20, I could not get any tickets for any of the matches, so Dhoni arranged a complimentary ticket of the final for me. He is a gem of a person. I have come to make sure he wins the World Cup. I am sure his new born baby will bring him luck.”

“I am from Karachi but I live in Chicago. My wife Rafia is from Hyderabad, India. I love Dhoni, he is my hero,” he added.

Given the popularity of the World Cup and how tickets sell like hot cakes Bashir came prepared this time. “I did not want to trouble Dhoni this time, so I bought the tickets very early. I buy only the cheapest $20 tickets because that is where I can sit and shout at my loudest for my hero,” Bashir concluded.
