Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise team Pune, unveiled the name and logo of his team on Monday. The team led by India’s limited-overs captain and former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni will be called as Rising Pune Supergiants (RPSG).

Stephen Fleming, who coached the CSK franchise and had been associated with it since its inception, has already been declared the coach of the team. The Goenka-led group has also brought in a new CEO, Raghu Iyer, to head its sport’s division. Iyer has previously worked with Rajasthan Royals (RR) and will look after both the cricket and football verticals of the group. READ: Thank you, MS Dhoni! It is time for you to pass on the baton and play freely.
The Dhoni-Fleming combo had worked wonders for the now-suspended CSK franchise. Goenka as well as CSK fans would hope the same magic works for RPSG as well. All eyes are now set on the IPL player auctions, which are scheduled to be held on February 6. The ninth season of IPL will be held between April 9 and May 29 this year. Check some of the top reactions this development garnered from the world of Twitter:

IPL team name “Rising Pune Supergiants” looks more influenced by current environment of fake Rising Intolerance rather than owner initials.
