Elegant, efficient, yet controversial, Mohammad Azharuddin had a colourful cricket career as well as personal life. The Emraan Hashmi-starrer ‘Azhar’ is set to cover many aspects of his life and cricket career, which saw many glories but yet marred with controversies. While Emraan plays Azhar in the film, Nargis Fakhri will be playing the role of his second wife Sangeeta Bijlani. The former actress played a huge role in Azhar’s life and the latter divorced his first wife of eight years, Naureen to marry Sangeeta. In 2010, the couple separated. Amidst reports doing rounds that Sangeeta is set to sue the makers of ‘Azhar’ as she is concerned that she may be portrayed in a poor light and will be perceived as a home-breaker, the former actress spoke to her ex-husband. A report from BollywoodLife states that Azhar and Sangeeta had a telephonic discussion after five years of their split where she voiced uneasiness on how she is presented in the film. It is believed that he is keen to watch the film and keeping in touch with the cricketer-turned-politician for the same. The report quotes the source as saying, “Sangeeta hasn’t been in touch with Azhar in years… Since the time they divorced in 2010, they have kept out of each other’s way. She fears that the movie will not show her in a positive light. By now, it is known that Nargis Fakhri is playing her in the film, so whether she wants it or not, she is connected to the film. Even Sangeeta’s Oye Oye song is part of her portrayal in the film. So, she called Azhar and she voiced her apprehensions. And she expressed a desire to watch the film. Since then, they have kept regularly in touch. Azhar informed her that he too hasn’t watched the film and has asked the producers for a trial. But everything is being kept tightly under wraps till the release.”
Earlier it was also reported that even Azhar was not happy with some secrets that he did not want to be revealed through the film but enjoyed it overall. The film starring Emraan, Nargis and Prachi Desai will hit the screens on Friday, May 13.
