England’s most prolific batsman Kevin Pietersen was axed from the national side after England suffered a massive defeat in the 2013-14 Ashes Down Under. Since then, he’d been drilling hard to sculpt his way back into the side but was denied even after performing well for Surrey in the County. The passion for cricket inside the English star is still alive and in an attempt to keep the fire burning, Pietersen has now decided to feature for his former South African Twenty20 (T20) team Dolphins.

Pietersen is reported to have inked the deal to represent Dolphins in the Ram Slam for five games starting from November. He initially started his career with Dolphins but later moved to England to achieve higher avenues. He was quoted in a report from PTI saying, “It’s wonderful. All my buddies are there, my best mates are there … it’s going to be fun. It’s a great comeback, but its work; try to leave emotion out of it.”

The decision was taken after England’s team director Andrew Strauss commented that Pietersen’s exclusion has helped the English side as they emerged victorious in the recently concluded Ashes. Strauss also gave an indication that there isn’t any room for Pietersen to make a comeback into the national side. “I would love to play Cricket for England again but for the moment that’s a no-go,” Pietersen added.
