Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar will play himself in a film, based on his life.
James Erskine, an award winning British director will make the film. Production company 200Not Out’s Krishna Ananthan was quoted by BBC as saying, “Shooting for the film has been going on for the past year and we aim to continue filming through the year.”
“We are aiming to release it by the end of this year or early next year.”
The film is likely to be between 90 and 120 minutes.
“It will be mostly about his personal life since his cricketing career is well known,” said a company spokesman.
Tendulkar’s feats on the cricket field have earned him a legendary status, but the film will focus on his life away from the game and also will be highlighted are little-known instances from his life.
Tendulkar, who has performed in numerous advertisements over the years, has no acting experience as far as film is concerned. However, Ananthan also did not believe Tendulkar’s lack of acting experience would prove to be an issue. “He is not acting,” he said. “He’s just playing himself.”
