Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli is easily the most popular cricketer at the moment. The dashing batsman turned 27 on Thursday, which also happened to be the first day of the first Test against South Africa. The man just got luckier on his birthday when he won the toss and elected to bat first.

When his turn to bat arrived, Kohli got out cheaply scoring just a single run. But still that didn’t make any difference to his fan following and the love of fans towards him. When captain Kohli stepped onto the ground, his fans gave him a pleasant surprise by singing the birthday song for him.

The moment he was coming out to bat at Mohali after Cheteshwar Pujara’s wicket, Kohli got a warm welcome by the spectators as they sang ‘Happy birthday dear Kohli’. He however could last only four balls at the crease and went back to pavilion after getting dismissed by the debutant Kagiso Rabada, thus becoming his first ever victim in Tests.

This doesn’t end here, as even after he got out, the big screen of the PCA Stadium displayed few birthday wishes from the fans across the country.

“Happy birthday to Indian Diamond, Virat Kohli,” message by a fan named Ansh Bansal was one of the few displayed on the big screen.

Team India also wished their charismatic captain on his 27th birthday by posting a video on Twitter.
