Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited legenadary cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev to be part of his delegation which will tour Australia this week. Modi has called the legendary cricketers to join him for the week-long tour Down Under.
“It is always a great honour to represent the country – as a cricketer and as a former cricketer. I was part of (former Prime Minister) Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s trip to Pakistan for the Delhi-Lahore bus service and I know what it means to be part of such a privilege,” apil Dev was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Modi’s decision to include the two legendary cricketers was praised by cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle who tweeted, “”Prime Minister Modi’s decision to include Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev in his team to Australia shows the role of cricket in our relations.”
