Bangladesh weren’t expected to beat the full strength Indian side and once they did, there are questions asked over Indian One-Day International (ODI) skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s captaincy. However the ‘Captain Cool’ has received support from within his team and the latest man to come in Dhoni’s defence is Suresh Raina, who shares a great camaraderie with the Indian captain.

In the post-match conference Raina said, “You can’t disrespect him and what he has achieved. He has won so many trophies for the BCCI. At the same time he’s a good human being, good honest man. One series can’t make him bad. He’s a good leader. Everyone loves him in the dressing room. There’s still a lot of cricket left for him. So just wait for some time.”

Praising Dhoni’s batting, Raina, who was awarded the man-of-the-match in the final ODI for his 38 from 21-balls along with claiming three crucial wickets, further added, “Losing just one series doesn’t make you a bad team. I think credit should be given to MS (Dhoni) with the way he led the team with the bat and then marshaled the side to this victory,” said the batting all-rounder, who blazed his way to a 21-ball 38 and then chipped in with three wickets.”

Dhoni scored 47 and 69 in the second and the third ODI respectively after he promoted himself in the batting order. India still continue to be the rank two side in this format but the 2-1 loss against Bangladesh is a wake-up call.
