You grow up together, study in same school, play for the same age group teams, then go on to represent the national side, and become stars. No, this time we are not talking about Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli.

South African genius AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis’ friendship goes long back and is still intact. While de Villiers leads South Africa in Tests and ODIs, du Plessis is the T20I captain. Post school, AB decided to go for a degree in sports science and Faf too wanted to follow his best buddy’s footsteps but when the latter reached the university, he was not pleased to see the long queue and decided not to waste his energy. Certainly, they are focusing their energies in something they are passionate about. While AB has gone on to be one of the greatest batsmen of all time, Faf is a rock in the South African middle-order.
