Vijay Mallya faces Twitterati’s ire as RCB lose IPL 2016 final to SRH

Sunday evening was shaping up nicely for an epic finish to seven-week long Indian Premier League (IPL) season 9 as the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were going steadily in pursuit of 209. Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli were living upto the expectations of a capacity Bengaluru crowd. Around the same time, a certain Vijay Mallya tweeted in support of RCB and all hell broke loose.

Mallya, whose company owned the RCB till the last season, has been living a fugitive’s life in the United Kingdom (UK). He has been declared a defaulter by a host of Indian PSU banks after he failed to return their money and escaped from the country. He was a permanent fixture in all RCB matches till the last year, but had been cheering for his side from UK this time.
