Virat Kohli, India’s Test skipper will receive Polly Umrigar Award while Mithali Raj will be presented with MA Chidambaram Trophy in BCCI Annual Awards to be given on January 5, 2016 in Mumbai. Kohli led India to victory against Sri Lanka and at the latter’s home soil, which ended a 22-year drought. He also helped India win Gandhi-Mandela series versus the South Africans 3-0. On the other hand, Mithali Raj too has played exceedingly well this year and richly deserves to be honoured with Best Woman Cricketer of the year in the senior grade. There will be many other awards too which will be presented during the ceremony. Syed Kirmani will be conferred with Col. CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award. Robin Uthappa and Vinay Kumar were the highest run scorers and wicket-takers respectively in Ranji Trophy 2014-15. Shardul Thakur too is the joint highest wicket-taker for this season. Vinay and Shardul have 48 scalps to their name in last year’s Ranji Trophy. Hence, all three will get Madhavrao Scindia Award. Uthappa scored 912 runs in the tournament in 11 games with an average of 50.06. In Under-23 cricket, Almas Shaukat will receive MA Chidambaram Trophy for being the best cricketer. Anmolpreet Singh and Shubnam Gill are named best cricketers in Under-19 and Under-16 domestic cricket respectively. Devika Vaidya is the best junior woman cricketer. State Association of the year will be Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for winning three big domestic tournaments— the Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup and Vijay Hazare Trophy. Lala Amarnath Award for the best all-rounder in Ranji Trophy will be given to Jalaj Saxena while Deepak Hooda will get the same award for domestic limited-overs contests.
