Virat Kohli’s advice to James Faulkner

Australia may have dominated the ongoing One-Day International (ODI) series against India but one thing they have failed to do is tame the Indian batsmen. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been phenomenal so far and have received little support from the bowlers.

During the third ODI at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), James Faulkner was unable counter the free-flowing Kohli and retorted to sledging tactics. Kohli is one cricketer who along from his wrists and shoulders, loves to flex his tongue muscles too. When the Australian all-rounder tried to rile him up and challenged him to go after his bowling, Kohli smiled and replied, “You’re wasting your energy. There’s no point, I’ve smashed you enough in my life. Just go and bowl.” Watch this: Virat Kohli-James Faulkner engage in friendly banter during 3rd ODI

Kohli later brought up his 24th ODI hundred and became the fastest to reach 7,000 ODI runs. His run-a-ball 117 unfortunately came in a losing cause.

Faulkner responded, “Smile. Having fun aren’t we?”

The umpire did intervene but both the cricketers matured enough and saw the lighter side of the whole incident. Kohli indeed was at his brutal best when Australia toured India for an ODI series in 2013. Faulkner especially was a the receiving end as India went on to win the series 3-2.
