Rohit Sharma, playing for Mumbai in the first quarter-finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018-19 season at the Just Cricket Academy ground on Sunday, faced a similar situation to what his India skipper Virat Kohli encountered on Day One of the second Test against West Indies in Hyderabad recently.
Mumbai were chasing Bihar s paltry 70-run target. Rohit was batting at the crease when a fan burst on to the scene and tried to kiss him. The fan first touched Rohit s legs, tried to kiss him and then made a dash back to the stands.
The incident has raised concerns over security of players during matches.

Earlier, on Day One of the 2nd India vs West Indies Test at Hyderabad, a fan run onto the field and embraced Kohli, upsetting the Indian skipper. The fan even tried to plant a kiss on his cheek and take a selfie.
Security officers overpowered the youngster and hauled him off the field as the crowd roared and clapped. Kohli was at mid-wicket in the opening session of the second Test when the young fan ran on the field and embraced the Indian star.
It was the second incident in the series after Kohli was surrounded by selfie-taking fans in the middle of the first Test in Rajkot last week.
