Brazil and Mexico play in a FIFA World Cup 2014 Group A match on June 17 at Fortaleza. This is the second round of matches in the 20th edition of the FIFA World Cup. Both Brazil and Mexico won their respective first matches in Group A. a victory for either could all but secure a place in the FIFA World Cup 2014 Round of 16s. While it is not guaranteed, they will get closer depending on other results in the group.

 

Five-time FIFA World Cup champions Brazil got off to a brilliant start with a 3-1 win over Croatia in the tournament opener. Star-striker Neymar scored two goals and midfielder Oscar got one as well. Mexico beat Cameroon 1-0 in a tense yet low-profile affair. This is the second match on the day after Belgium and Algeria s Group H match at Belo Horizonte. Brazil are the favourites to come out with the win against Mexico.

The FIFA World Cup 2014 will run for a month as the final is on July 13 in Rio de Janeiro. A total of 32 teams will participate in the tournament. There will be eight groups [Group A to Group H] with four teams each. All the teams will play three matches each in the group stage.

 

A win is worth three points, while a draw will gain one point and a loss means no points will be added. The top two teams will qualify for the Round of 16s. From there the winners will progress to the quarter-finals, then the semi-finals and the last two victorious teams will play in the final.
