It’s all over at Adelaide. India are all out for 265 and despite good innings by Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayudu, India could not get even close to Australia’s target of 372. Australian bowlers have done an excellent job to restrict India to 265. Here’s our match report
Ravindra Jadeja has been dismissed and Australia need just one wicket to win the match. India will have to bounce back well in the next warm-up game against Afghanistan before they kick start their World Cup campaign on February 15 against Pakistan at Adelaide.
Ambati Rayudu gets to his half-century off 38 balls and now is looking to hit absolutely everything out of the park at the moment. Ravindra Jadeja at the other end must also get some runs, if India are to come closer to Australia’s score. Rayudu immediately gets out after reaching his half-century after he top edges a ball into the hands of wicket-keeper Brad Haddin.
Suresh Raina has been run out and MS Dhoni is out first ball and things are looking extremely bleak for India now. Shikhar Dhawan was earlier dismissed for a well made 59 and with this India lose yet another set batsman after Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed just a short while back. Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed after playing a superb innings. He made 66 from 52 balls to kindle hopes of India’s revival, but he is unfortunately dismissed while he was trying to go for the big runs. Ajinkya Rahane has reached his half-century and has successfully managed to overtake Shikhar Dhawan at the other end, who opened the innings with Rohit Sharma.

Ajinkya Rahane is looking extremely good at the moment and is set to overtake Shikhar Dhawan sooner rather than later as both batsmen approach their half-centuries.

India are playing cautiously at the moment in what seems like a good wicket to bat on. Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan will be looking to make the best use of these conditions.
India are consolidating at the moment as Virat Kohli gets his first boundary. He along with Shikhar Dhawan are key for India’s success in this match.

Australia have managed to reach a huge score with two overs to spare. A relatively simple catch was dropped in the process. Hopefully, that will not cost India much.
Mohammed Shami, who has been expensive in this match is hit for another boundary by Mitchell Johnson and Patrick Cummins at the other end tries his best to give the strike back to Johnson as mush as possible.
Mitchell Johnson smacks two boundaries of Mohit Sharma to take Australia past the 350-run mark. Mohit bowls a no-ball and the free-hit cost him another boundary.
OUT! Mitchell Starc is out first ball and Australia seem to have lost some momentum for the time being. India have a chance of dismissing Australia soon here.

27 runs have come from that over as Glenn Maxwell takes the bowlers to the cleaners. Australia in a commanding position in this game as they look to take the game away from the opposition. After scoring a century, Maxwell retures and Mitchell Starc is the new batsman.

Mitchell Marsh gets into the act as he smashes Mohit Sharma to the fence. Glenn Maxwell then scores a boundary that takes him closer to his century. 11 runs from that over from Mohit.

Glenn Maxwell reaches his half-century but seems like he might have hurt hi back in the process. He tries some exercises as the physio walks out to have a closer look. Maxwell continues to play though. Australia are piling on runs at ease at the moment.
A six and a fout from the first two deliveries from Mohammed Shami has relieved some pressure off Australia. Glenn Maxwell then follows it up with yet another boundary as he nears his half-century. Shami has been very expensive in this match so far. 16 coming off that over.
Another excellent over from Umesh Yadav. If he keeps this up, India will have one headache less going into the tournament. India need to finish well in this innings to have the momentum while coming out to bat.
India are bowling extremely well and at this rate can try and restrict Australia to under 300. The spinners and Umesh Yadav have done brilliantly so far as he continues from the other end.

Seven runs came off that over from Ravindra Jadeja and Australia are slowly getting some momentum back in the game slowly. India need to break this partnership and must try to do it immediately.

David Warner brings up his 100 and his innings has put Australia in great position. India will need to break this partnership as quickly as possible to get back into this game.
After playing out four balls cautiously, George Bailey latches on to a short ball from Mohammed Shami and collects et another boundary and gets David Warner back on strike for the final ball of the over, who has to wait for another over to get a century.
David Warner is now just one run away from a century as he hoists Ashwin for a six over mid-wicket. George Bailey is supporting Warner well at the other end.
Mohammed Shami is back into the attack and George Bailey pushes him for a quiet two off the first ball and follows it up with a boundary. Bailey has looked very comfortable so far. He sensibly gives the strike to David Warner after facing four balls in that over. Warner manages to get a single off the last ball and keep strike for the next over.

Warner gets the strike back after George Bailey pulls him for a single. Some excellent fielding in the deep restricts Australia to just two runs. The last ball perishes for a boundary.

David Warner looks dangerous and is set to get a huge score. Shane Watson at the other end is giving good support to David Warner at the other end. Things are looking good for Australia at the moment, not so good for India.
Stuart Binny into his fourth over and concedes two runs off the first ball and Aaron Finch pulls the ball over the top in the third delivery to get another boundary. Finch manages to time the ball beautifully and collects his second boundary off the over.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar seems to have gotten his rhythm back after conceding two boundaries of the opening two balls of his spell. David Warner and Aaron Finch have given Australia a bright start after Warner slogs one to the mid-wicket boundary.
Stuart Binny wraps the ball on Aaron Finch’s ribs and he seems to be in some pain at the moment, but he’s carrying on. Binny seems to have his tail up and is testing the batsmen well. Finch gets some respite as he manages to take a single of the fourth ball. David Warner then chips the ball in the air and just falls short of Bhuvneshwar Kumar standing at short backward square-leg and runs away for a boundary and follows it up with two runs off the last ball.

David Warner looks aggressive as he smashes Stuart Binny for two boundaries of the opening two balls of the over. Fit again Rohit Sharma hits the wicket, but no damage done. Warner manages to get off strike after he edges one to deep mid-wicket, which brings Aaron Finch back on strike for the last two deliveries, who plays it out safely.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowls two lose deliveries and both get thrashed for a boundary by Aaron Finch. Next ball swings back in sharply, but Finch escapes with a leg-bye, which brings David Warner back on strike and he approaches Bhuvneshwar cautiously. 10 runs from that over.

India, being the defending champions begin their ICC World Cup defence campaign with a warm-up tie against the fierce hosts and four-time champions, Australia at their own backyard. Although a warm-up tie, but both the teams would take this match seriously and consider it as a main event match of the mega event as a win here for any of the team is surely to boost their confidence for the event, which officially gets underway from February 14. India would be the first team to take this match on a serious note, following their dismal performance in the just concluded tri-series against Australia, Down Under, which featured England as well. India failed to win a game and were unable to play the final. This surely has cost a set-back to the players and a two-week long break has apparently enabled them to reconstruct things, especially their confidence as they get set to for the most important tournament of their life, to defend the World Championship title successfully at a place with extreme conditions that could well be called the devils paradise. Australia, on the other hand are high on confidence following their good show this summer in back to back series against South Africa and the tri-series, and winning both. A win in this warm-up tie would surely take their confidence to an extreme high level and could make them a dangerous team to stop, with the mega event being held at their own backyard and aim to win it for the first-ever time at the same.
Rohit Sharma started off the Indian chase with a four through the covers off Mitchell Starc. Rohit had scored a century in his last outing and India would hope that he continues the good run with the bat as they need a win desperately to knock off some pressure which is hovering over them
