Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the third and final Twenty20 International (T20I) between India and Sri Lanka at Visakhapatnam on Sunday. I am Rishad D’Souza and I will bring you the over-by-over live cricket updates and live cricket scores of the match. The third T20I between India and Sri Lanka will be the series decider. Sri Lanka had managed to stun India in the first match, but the hosts came back brilliantly to win the second T20I comprehensively. Ravichandran Ashwin deservedly won, not only the man of the match, but also the series. He was absolutely fantastic through course of the series. Performed in all three games, taking a total tally of nine wickets. When the opportunity presented itself, he also did well with the bat, although it was in a losing cause.
Rahane on the win: Credit to the bowlers for cashing in on the conditions. Admits that scoring was difficult!
Dhawan talks about his much-noticed pick up shot: I used to play it as a youngster and I’m glad it has now returned.

Dhawan paddles the next ball but not a good job of it, gets a couple nonetheless. Dhawan smashes the next ball over cover for a SIX! Next ball hit in the same cover region for a FOUR! And that’s the winning runs right there. As simple as that for India.

There’s something befuddling about this bowler. He’s bowling seam up but getting it to off spin. Lacking consistency in accuracy though. Single taken of final ball.

Dhawan goes for the huge slog sweep but takes bottom of the bat, rolls to square leg for a single.

Rahane doesn’t get the pull next ball but manages a couple of a bottom edge. Dhawan hurried with the bouncer next ball but manages to keep it down, though not very convincingly. Runs a single. Rahane clips the length ball to midwicket for a single next. Nicely done by Dhawan on the last ball, he shuffles outside off, Chameera bowls it wider but Dhawan judges well and guides it to third man for a single.

Live Cricket Score India 35/1 in 6 overs | Batsmen: Shikhar Dhawan 16(19), Ajinkya Rahane 4(4): Great bowling by Chameera after that wicket. But strays on the fifth ball with a short ball outside off which he cuts away for FOUR! Similar delivery to finish up by the slower pace beats Rahane.

Next ball Chameera comes back, and how! Gets it to tail back in late, Rohit misses the flick, and is struck in front, umpire rules him out leg before and it’s a fine call. OUT! Live Cricket Score India 25/0 in 5 overs | Batsmen: Shikhar Dhawan 16(19), Rohit Sharma 9(11): Rohit was struggling just a little bit, breaks the shackles with a monster six. Shimmied down the track, got to the pitch of the ball and launched it. Runs a single next ball, Dhawan plays out three dots next.
Live Cricket Score India 17/0 in 4 overs | Batsmen: Shikhar Dhawan 15(15), Rohit Sharma 2(9): First ball by Fernando punched to point by Dhawan, no run. Second ball is a dot too. Third ball is back of a length and hit the deck hard, Dhawan defends and decides against the quick single. Dhawan charges down next ball, Fernando bangs the ball in short to improvise, but Dhawan is quick in seeing that and he connects the pull for four to fine leg. Next ball hit to point, no run. Fernando gets the bottom edge next ball on Dhawan’s attempted cut off a slower ball, a single is snuck in.

Rohit gets a single of the fourth ball with a thick inside edge on the lofted drive. Dhawan gets an easy single next ball. Just the two runs of the over.

Fernando attempts something of a drive next ball, but beaten on the outside edge. Next ball is hit back by Fernando to the bowler and Bumrah makes a laughing appeal as it had bumped. Next ball Fernando manages to clip to leg side for a single. Senanayake goes for a slog next ball and Dhoni appeals for caught behind and the umpire said its out! Ultra edge shows no nick, Senanayake disappointed. Rare for Dhoni to appeal needlessly and perhaps the umpire fell to his reputation, did not look like an edge. Chameera the new man in. And Raina removes Perera, the last respectable batsman! Great bowling by Bumrah, using cutters, and variations in pace to his advantage. Next ball is tapped to the leg side for a hasty single. Next ball is half volley outside off, Senanayake makes great connect on the drive but straight to cover.

Perera plays the next ball defensively to point. Perera cashes in on a full length ball on leg for a single. Senanayake attempts the slog sweep next ball, gets a thick inside edge, single taken. Perera misses on the flick next ball, dot. Perera gets an outside edge final ball but it eludes the slips, no run and no fifer for Ashwin. His figures 8-4 in four overs!

Shanaka plays down the next ball off his legs for a quick single as it rolls to the man charging in from square leg. Next ball is cut through extra cover for a single. Next ball dabbed to square leg for a single. Perera plays down the next good length ball down back to the bowler, dot. Final ball of the over is placed right of Yuvraj at mid on, but he dives and intercepts it, no run.

He’s getting a lot of turn and has beaten Shanaka off consecutive deliveries. Shanaka charges down next ball but intercepts the turn and blocks it off!

First ball he produces a false shot from Prasanna but the aired shot goes in the vacant region through extra cover. Third ball is a height no ball and it’s creamed for SIX by Shanaka! Free hit now! And the free hit brings another six from Shanaka! Smart batting, next ball hit through cover for a single. Batsmen try to sneak in a quick single next ball but Jadeja does great work from mid off and the direct hit results in Prasanna’s wicket! Final ball in the over is let go by Shanaka. OUT! Live Cricket Score Sri Lanka 33/5 in 7 overs | Batsmen:Shanaka 4(10), Prasanna 8(5): Jadeja getting some turn too. Shanaka nicks the second ball but Dhoni misses a sharp chance and it runs for FOUR! A very good over anyway, just that streaky boundary off it and a few edges that did not carry to anyone.

He was trying to be positive and attempted another short-arm pull but badly misjusdged the length and his off stump flies to Nehra’s muted delight. Prasanna comes in now to try and calm the tide. The positivity continues, it’s a similar shot to the one Siriwardana fell, but the length is picked and hit to leg side for FOUR! Next ball is a dot, tapped to short cover. Next ball is guided to third man with an open bat, single. Siriwardana short-arm-pulls the next ball to midwicket for FOUR! A very good shot to get off the mark, was not a bad ball.

Next ball swings in and it’s a leg bye as Chandimal misses the flick.

TOSS: India have won the toss and elect to field first
India were precariously placed after being bowled out for a disappointing 101 in the first T20I against South Africa. Their top order crumbled and it was only a late fightback from Ravichandran Ashwin that even allowed them to reach three figures. However, they showed remarkable fightback with the ball in that match, taking the game close before one expensive over from Jasprit Bumrah finished things off for the visitors. India did not lose heart and bounced back with an excellent win in the second T20I. Having scored 196, they then put in a consolidated bowling performance to trump Sri Lanka by 69 runs. India will want to continue their winning momentum, after they managed to beat Australia in Australia to whitewash the series 3-0. With ICC World T20 2016 and Asia Cup T20 2016 coming up, another series win will be a big boost for either side.
