Pakistan are in serious trouble as Sri Lanka need just one wicket to wrap things up. Here’s our Day 2 report

It’s stumps and Sri Lanka need just one wicket to secure a lead. Sarfraz Ahmedhas toiled well and will look to add more when play resumes on Day 3.

Play resumes after the break and Sri Lanka strike immediately as Rahat Ali is trapped in front off the bowling of Kaushal, who gets his second wicket. Sri Lanka need just another wicket.

Rain has stopped play once again with Pakistan still trailing Sri Lanka by 76 runs. Yasir Shah has been dismissed after he provided Sarfraz with some excellent support on their way to a 45-run stand for the 7th wicket.

Wicket keeper Sarfraz Ahmed gets to his seventh fifty as he is the last hope in the Pakistani batting line-up, who can get them to a decent position from here. He is being well supported by Yasir Shah at the moment and will look to build a good partnership with him.

Pakistan going through a bit of collapse here. They first lost skipper Misbah for six and then they lost Ehsan Adil off the first delivery. Sarfraz Ahmed is the only hope for Pakistan.

Dhammika Prasad seems to have taken the edge, the entire Sri Lankan side goes up with the bowler. But the batsman calls for the review immediately. That certainly does not look out. Azhar Ali survives. But it was a good ball regardless.

In a surprising move, Asad Shafiq has been promoted in the batting order, ahead of Misbah-ul-Haq, who is apparently struggling with a groin strain. Pakistan have however begun well after lunch.

Oh no! Pakistan lose younis Khan just before lunch. The pressure was getting to him after a few quite overs from Sri Lanka. Younis looking for a quick single ran himself out after a direct throw at the non-striker’s end.

Pakistan have lost their other opener as well. Shehzad was looking to leave the ball outside off but got the outside edge and went straight to the wicketkeeper. Nuwan Pradeep gets a wicket off his very first over.

Pakistan have made a steady start as openers have managed to get a series of boundaries to make them feel a bit comfortable against a hostile Sri Lankan bowling attack. Sri Lanka, in fact used a review for caught down the leg side off Shan Masood, but unsuccessful.

The hosts, sent in to bat after Pakistan captain Misbah-ul Haq won the toss for the third time in a row, stuttered to 272-8 in their first innings by stumps on the opening day. Left-handed Karunaratne anchored the innings with a dogged 130, his second Test century following the 152 against New Zealand in Christchurch last December. Yasir ended the day with four for 77, taking his tally in the series to 21 wickets, the most by a Pakistani bowler in a three-Test rubber in Sri Lanka.He enabled Pakistan to keep the runs in check despite conditions favouring the batsmen on the evenly-paced pitch after the initial moisture on the wicket had dried up under the hot sun. The series is locked 1-1, with Pakistan having won the first Test by 10 wickets before Sri Lanka drew level with a seven-wicket victory in the second match, AFP reported.
