India A skipper KL Rahul was once again among the runs scoring 81 up top and combined with Abhimanyu Easwaran for a stand of 179 runs for the opening wicket against England Lions on the opening day of the 2nd unofficial Test at Mysore on Wednesday.
While Rahul missed out on reaching the triple-figure mark for the second successive innings – after being out for 89 in the 1st unofficial Test – falling to pacer Zak Chappell, fellow opener, Bengal’s Easwaran notched up his 11th First-Class century, scoring 117 off 222 balls, propped up by 13 fours and a one six, helping India A finish day one at 282/3.
After the fall of Rahul, Easwaran joined forces with Gujarat’s Priyank Panchal – who had scored 206 in the 1st unofficial Test at Wayanad – for a stand of 73 runs. Easwaran was removed by off spinner Dominic Bess, who has played two Tests for England, in the 74th over.
Panchal, in company of Karun Nair (14*), then almost saw off the reminder of the day before he was removed on the penultimate delivery by pacer Tom Bailey for 50 off 88 balls.
For England Lions, who drew the 1st unofficial Test, Bailey, Chappell and Bess picked one wicket each while Steve Mullaney was the most economical bowler, giving away 20 runs in his 12 overs.
Brief Scores: India A 282/3 (Abhimanyu Easwaran 117, KL Rahul 81, Priyank Panchal 50; Zak Chappell 1/32) vs England Lions
