The upcoming IPL mega auction which is scheduled to be held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, will see some of the biggest stars in the world go under the hammer. The likes of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul among others are tipped to be bought be teams at humongous prices.
Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that it will be Pant, who will break the record set by Mitchell Starc in last season’s auction.
“Rishabh Pant. I’m saying it again. He could still become the most expensive player in the history of the IPL. He could go even beyond Rs 25-26 crore,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
The Delhi Capitals made the surprising decision of releasing Pant ahead of the mega auction, bringing an end to a 9-year relationship. Having performed brilliantly for India throughout their 2024 T20 World Cup campaign, as well as having been in great form in Test cricket, Pant is expected to be the most expensive signing in IPL history.
Chopra also hinted at the teams who can enter the bidding war for the star Indian wicketkeeper-batter.
“I can see three teams going absolutely hammer and tongs for him. One has Rs 110 cr (PBKS), one has Rs 83 cr (RCB). They’ll fight each other and a lot of money will be spent,” Chopra said.
